Why Video Games Are Good For You
Many people love to play video games. Especially in this century, technology has influenced everything and companies are targeting even the youth. Computers are used not only for projects and research but also for entertainment.
There are tons of games sold in the market; there are even those that you can download online. There are, however, many parents who do not find video games to be healthy for their growing kids.
Some adults compare their ways of entertainment now with theirs before. Of course, they had fun. Playing outside with friends is one good way to pass the time and bond with people your own age. But that does not mean that video games do not have their advantages too. Here are reasons why video games are good for people.
a) You will definitely be assured of developing your skills.
There are games out on sale that are good to enhance a certain age group's skills. There are games for kids that teach them all the basic things like the alphabet or colors and shapes. There can even be adventure games of their favorite cartoon characters that would teach the child important values in life.
For the teenagers, most games may seem violent but these have their advantages too. They would be able to develop hand and eye coordination or learn how to plan and others. Everything that we do can help us in little ways that we do not expect, and so do video games.
Videogames are sure to be addicting because once you start a game, you would really want to conquer it. Do not worry about that; just play your game. Just make sure you do not neglect other responsibilities.
b) Get your exercise while having fun.
Really! There are video games that are sure to give you one heck of a workout and you won't even think that you are having one. One good example would be the Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). You can play for hours and you can't stop having fun. And you are sure to be sweating a lot after that. It may be tricky at first because you have to hit the dance pad in time with the arrows on screen but when you get the hang of it, it is sure to be worth playing.
Another example would be games in Nintendo Wii. If you can't play it outside because of time constraints or some other reasons, now you can play games meant to be played in fields or big spaces, in you own bedroom or living room. You can play golf or tennis inside and have the same kind of fun as you are having if you are playing the real thing. That is because it feels like the real thing.
c) These help us learn new things.
Things that people take interest in, like video games, help a person learn something. You may not intend to “study” the game but eventually, you learn something about it. Like, a person may suck at playing basketball, but because he plays a basketball game on the computer, he learns some tactics on planning and can help out his team by sharing some ideas. There are a lot of other things we can pick up from video games. And just because these take so much time for many people, does not mean these do not give any good to the person.
