A Look At Warcraft I I I: The Frozen Throne's Defense Of The Ancients
If you thought Warcraft III was pretty awesome, you're going to need to take a second look and find a map that's called Defense Of The Ancients. Quite simply put, this is a game that has swept the world by storm. It's been featured in the World Cyber Games and has been all the craze in battle.net and LAN games.
People young and old, male and female have quite the liking to this game for a number of years now. Take your pick at more then fifty heroes to choose from. You can either choose the side of the Sentinels or the Scourge. Take your pick as you wage war against five other individuals, heroes rather, in the battle for supremacy over your opponents. Perhaps at some point, you might want to ask yourself, what makes this game so popular?
1. It's because it's entertaining.
Sure it doesn't have the awesome graphics and the freedom to move your character as freely as you wish like in World of Warcraft but the DOTA experience is still quite worthwhile. Despite this game running on the Warcraft III engine, DOTA has proved to be quite resilient showing that people aren't just into games for the graphics but instead into something else that's intangible perhaps.
If you would like to compare it to World of Warcraft, DOTA is kind of like a PvP battle that can be played either one on one or as much as five on five if you choose to. One thing's for certain though, with all the new versions and releases for DOTA, it doesn't look like this is going away for quite some time.
2. It's undoubtedly an enjoyable game.
It's a little bit like Pringles because once you start playing you can't really stop. That's if you acquire a taste for this game that is. Some people act as if it's love at first sight when they play DOTA; it's as if they were asking where you have been all this time. It's for good reason as well because some people despite having played it for the first time find that they are exceptionally good at it. Give them a couple of days to see the ropes, master some item combinations, and you've got yourself another addicted DOTA player. Although DOTA is played from one game after another, it still doesn't seem to get boring. Well that's some game for you right there, no?
3. The thrill of a kill catches on quick.
If you've played DOTA, even once, you will understand that a hero kill is so pleasurable and so addicting that you will want to keep playing and playing. This game, undoubtedly requiring some degree of skill and strategy, is just simply a kill or be killed game. The side that has the best strategy and hero combination wins. But it's not just as easy as that though because if you're going up against experienced and skilled opponents, you'll find that you're going to need more than just one strategy to emerge victorious.
